The Girl Mothers of Pader Girls’ Academy

Welcome to the giftsforwarbrides site. You’ve come to a place where you can give something priceless: the gift of a future.

For the girls of Pader Girls’ Academy in northern Uganda, childhood dreams of a family, an education, a job, a fruitful future, and even a simple life in the village were snatched away when LRA rebels came into their homes and villages and forced them into war.

The LRA gave some girls guns to fight and kill. But most, like useless objects, were given as “wives” to the rebels – their innocence lost to daily rape, their girlish bodies ravaged by bearing babies before maturity.

Since 2002, when a young girl named Proscovia first stumbled back into Pader from the dense bush of the war zone, Alice Achan has worked unceasingly to help rehabilitate the girl mothers. The Pader Girls’ Academy is the only school in Uganda where the girl mothers can study while raising their babies.

What can you do to help? CCF Pader has just completed a guesthouse and training centre for the girls to learn about housekeeping, catering and administration in the hospitality industry. It will provide an income for the school next door and the potential for jobs. There are still many items we can contribute to raise the standard of training and guest facility to be the best in the district.

Stay tuned to our site as we roll out a scholarship program that will allow the girls to train as nurses, midwives and teachers, skills lacking in the north of Uganda, as girls were forced out of school by the war.

You can sponsor childcare fees of $40 a month for the babies, so they can be close to their mothers. Or help with the costs of food, toys and clothes.

We can help the girl mothers – and their babies – have a better life.

This is our way of showing them we love them, even though we may not know them.

This is our gift of a future.
